What We Do
Liverpool Poetry Café is an Arts Council England and National Lottery funded
program, which runs monthly events with local, national and
international poets and writers. Some events are seated readings, others are
less formal with chance for questions, some are very informal with an 'open mic' theme. Each event is different, and we would encourage you to come
along and see for yourself what it is like.
Who We Are
Alex Scott Samuel, Gladys Mary Coles and (distantly) Alysa Thomas. We also
have a huge amount of help from staff at the Bluecoat, as well as countless
friends and family who are there with ideas and support.
Event Info
All events are held in the upstairs performance space at the
Bluecoat (School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BX.
0151 702 5324).

Calendar and/or the Bluecoat's publicity.
Events are normally held at 7.30-9.30pm on the fourth Thursday of each month but check calendar etc.
A Brief History
in 2008,
Liverpool Poetry Café began in Costa Cafe on Bold Street. Since January
2009, we've been at the Bluecoat; initially in their Hub and now in their
upstairs performance space.
We have been developing over the last three years to include more widely known poets alongside developing writers; allowing the public to see and hear poets new to them, as well as familiar names. We are proud to have hosted readings by the likes of Carol Ann Duffy, Andrew Motion, Jo Shapcott, Brian Patten, Patience Agbabi, Jean Sprackland and Micheal O'Siadhail.
